Lactic acid (C₃H₆O₃) is an organic acid produced during carbohydrate breakdown for energy, especially during intense exercise or low oxygen, found in sour milk/yogurt, and used in food, cosmetics (as AHA), and pharmaceuticals. It's a colorless, syrupy liquid or white solid, soluble in water, and plays roles in energy, glucose production, and preserving foods by lowering pH.
