Acarbose (brand names include Precose and Glucobay) is an oral anti-diabetic medication used to treat type 2 diabetes and, in some countries, prediabetes. It is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that helps control blood sugar levels by slowing the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates in the small intestine.
